Stand-up comedy class! June 7 - July 10

Jarrod recently made his Comedy Central debut and was a finalist in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition, Boston International Comedy Festival, and a favorite at the Detroit Comedy Festival. Jarrod also hosted the first annual Laughing Skull Festival and currently headlines all over the US, and performs regularly on the top shows in LA and NYC. Jarrod has worked with Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Patton Oswalt, Ron White, and Lewis Black plus too many more to fit in this space. Jarrod currently writes and develops television and film scripts with some of the biggest names in the business. Come learn stand-up from a comedian that is currently working with some of the best in the industry.

Short-form improv with Bob Wood, Artistic Director, Relapse Theatre
Cost: $600 for the 6-month program

This intense acting program will focus on two-person improvised scenes and honing the skills that lead to powerful performance, including: emphasis on the 2-person Relationships, Character work driven by real Emotions, and Use of Movement to inspire genuine feelings
* Class meets Sundays 3-5 pm
* Students are also encouraged to take advantage of jam sessions that are 7:30 - 9:30 PM on Wednesdays
* No experience necessary; all levels welcome
* Guaranteed performance time as part of the program

Often those with previous improv experience wish to skip our level 1 class as they fear that it will be remedial and cover things they have already studied. The curriculum at JaCKPie is designed to act as a masters class for experienced players and an intro class for newer improvisers.

March 1: “Vintage Hair Syles” Talloolah Love has been doing the up-do’s with vintage flair and emphasis on glamour for the past five years. She can show you the secret formula for polishing your look on stage with the perfect coif. It is advisable to bring a camera and be prepared to take notes. Talloolah Love has made her name within stylist circles from her experience with weddings, Hair fashion shows with Aveda, and photo shoots done all over Atlanta. She feels that vintage hairstyles are a lost art and wishes to share it in a fun and practical way to the modern femme fatale!
March 8, 2009: “The Business of Burlesque” Katherine Lashe has put together a class for people who want to take their Burlesque and performance career to the next level. She will expound on how to get your name out there and recognized on a larger scale, go over how to get the seats occupied, and how to negotiate your bookings. Essential for both the hobbyists and the professional alike!

Sundays 12-4 pm, Feb. 1st to Mar 8th, 2009: Renea Le Roux will teach her Corsetry Class in green room of the Relapse cabaret. Reneá le Roux will be teaching the secrets of corset making. You do not have to be a burlesque student or performer to take this class, this is a strict costuming class. This class has prerequisite knowledge of how to use a sewing machine and is priced differently than the usual ABC’s and 123’s class. Email syrensofthesouth@gmail.com for more details!

The latest improv class taught by Relapse Theatre founder and artistic director, Bob Wood, will focus on two-person improvised scenes. This class will teach you how to have powerful performances by emphasizing the Relationship between acting partners, the role of emotions in character work, and how to use movement to inspire genuine feelings and a natural performance. Taught upon a foundation of non-judgment and of improvisation as a life skill. Classes are held Sundays from 2-4 pm with jam sessions every Wednesday night from 7:30-9:30pm. $100 per month. Custom and Corporate Classes
Private workshops can be customized for your group needs and delivered at your site, or at Relapse Theatre. Generally workshops are structured as a half-day or full-day program. Depending on your interests and needs, we can deliver a workshop that includes:
- Exercises to improve public speaking skills & team communications
- Games to encourage brainstorming and problem solving
- Techniques to address conflict and facilitate meetings
